Our E-Learning Chemical Safety Awareness. The goal of this training is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to be Aware and Safe with Chemicals

Course Agenda:

• Understand chemical hazards — recognise how chemicals can cause harm through contact, inhalation, or ingestion, and distinguish between physical, health, and environmental hazards.
• Identify common hazard classifications — understand the meaning of GHS (Globally Harmonised System) hazard symbols for flammable, corrosive, toxic, oxidising, irritant, and environmental hazards.
• Know relevant legislation and standards — become familiar with workplace safety regulations such as COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), REACH, and CLP regulations.
• Learn to read and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) — identify critical sections like hazard identification, first aid, handling and storage, PPE requirements, and spill response.
• Implement safe handling procedures — follow proper methods for transferring, mixing, and using chemicals; minimize exposure through containment and good ventilation.
• Use correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) — choose gloves, goggles, aprons, respirators, or face shields based on the specific chemical risks and ensure they fit and are maintained correctly.
• Ensure proper labelling and storage — use clearly labelled containers, segregate incompatible substances (e.g., acids and bases), and store chemicals in designated, ventilated areas.
• Know emergency and first aid procedures — understand how to respond to spills, leaks, fires, or exposure incidents, including use of eyewash stations, showers, and reporting systems.
• Dispose of chemicals safely — follow approved disposal routes, avoid mixing waste streams, and ensure all containers are properly sealed and labelled before disposal.
• Promote a safety-first culture — encourage regular training, incident reporting, and ongoing risk assessments to maintain compliance and protect people and the environment.
